Howler Board Games is an independent tabletop publisher born right out of Perranporth, Cornwall.
The company grew out of two constants: a lifetime spent in the ocean as a local surfer and beach lifeguard—backed by over 35 years on the coast and 28 years in teaching—and regular game nights with the Perranporth Geek Club, a group of self-confessed board game geeks who have been gathering around the table for over 15 years.
Sitting around week after week, playing everything from heavy strategy games to push-your-luck card games, the realization hit. With decades of hands-on experience in surf culture, ocean safety, and wave dynamics—paired with a deep understanding of what makes tabletop games truly engaging—it became clear that a proper, authentic surfing board game needed to exist.
Howler Board Games was established to bridge that gap: bringing real ocean knowledge, tabletop passion, and genuine coastal grit to the gaming table.

Game Overview: Each player represents a skilled surfer hoping to become the world’s best surfer. During a turn, players use their dice as well as special card effects to execute manoeuvres. These manoeuvres score points, which move their pawns along the scoring track on the outside edges of the board. In addition, as players move around the board, they can collect sponsorship deals that boost their world surfing prowess. Finally, speed, power, strategy, and tactics are all needed to become the world’s best surfer!
